Lifestyle

In Ayurveda, Vihara refers to lifestyle and daily activities that support health and well-being. It encompasses all aspects of how we live our daily lives, including our routines, behaviours, habits, and the way we interact with our environment. Living in harmony with one’s environment and maintaining supportive relationships also play a vital role in Vihara, ensuring a balanced and fulfilling life.

Key components of Vihara include:

Dinacharya (Daily Routine): Establishing a consistent daily routine that aligns with the natural rhythms of the day. This includes waking up early, practicing personal hygiene, exercise, meditation, meals, work, and rest.
Ritucharya (Seasonal Regimen): Adapting lifestyle and dietary habits according to the changing seasons to maintain balance and prevent illness. Each season has its own set of guidelines to follow for diet, exercise, and daily activities.
Physical Activities: Regular exercise and physical activities that suit one's constitution and health status. This includes yoga, walking, or other forms of exercise that promote physical health and mental well-being.
Rest and Relaxation: Ensuring adequate rest and relaxation, including quality sleep and leisure activities that rejuvenate the body and mind. Mental and Emotional Hygiene: Practices that promote mental clarity, emotional balance, and stress management. This includes meditation, mindfulness, positive thinking, and maintaining healthy relationships.
Social and Recreational Activities: Engaging in social interactions and recreational activities that bring joy, fulfillment, and a sense of community.
Avoiding Harmful Habits: Steering clear of habits and behaviours that can harm health, such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and overeating.

By following the principles of Vihara, individuals can create a lifestyle that supports their overall health, enhances their quality of life, and helps prevent diseases.
